Mr & Mrs Eio’s 10th Wedding Anniversary

2nd Dec 2016 is our 10th Wedding Anniversary. There were many lessons learnt over these years of marriage. We could have let it passed like any other ordinary day but we want to do something special together to enjoy each other’s company, to reflect & be thankful of our many blessings. 

Leave no room for complaints nor any slightest possibility to be upset with our spouse. 

We checked in Hotel Rendezvous for a 2d1n staycation days before our anniversary. Reason: Mr Eio had to go for a work trip to Europe on 3rd dec weekend. To “prevent” myself from even having the slightest possibility of complaining for the rest of the years in our marriage that he didn’t celebrate this special day with me, we decided to have a staycation together. 😜

This is the hotel where we held our wedding banquet 10 years ago. We often come to this hotel for a meal during our wedding anniversaries (some years together with the kids, especially when I was breastfeeding! Lol.)

God truly knows what we need & He never shortchange us. 

When we were at the check-in counter, we were told that we’re upgraded to junior suite & there’s club access. Praise the Lord! I can have as many cups of TWG tea as I desire. Nice ambience, good tea☕️ & light snacks🍰🍮. We didn’t have to stay in the room to reflect, chat & do planning. We are blessed with a nice place to chill out.

I’ve not eaten buffet for a long time. This is one thing I would like to do with Mr Eio as he often comes home telling me how delicious was the buffet🍽 he had for lunch when he’s on course at a hotel etc. I can only imagine & salivate. Over the years,  there are many meals that I don’t even know or remember what I’m eating as I’m busy feeding the kids or getting them to finish their food. He always tells me we should try this & that buffet some days. We did for some but not the other. 

There are bad days when the kids misbehaved 😫& Mr Eio has to work OT or he’s overseas & there’s other things that I need to help him with on top of the household chores. I really wanna cry. Then, when he’s home, he needs to recover from jet lag 😴& kept sleeping in front of me (when I’m so tired), that I felt like throwing in the towel. I become easily offended by his words & the kids actions. I’m no longer loving & kind. Time like this, God’s grace is sufficient for us. Finally, after having sufficient nap, Mr Eio is ready to affirm me & top up my emptied love tank. ❤️️I’m “good-to-go” again. Lol. But before Mr Eio can do anything to top up my love tank, how much patience, forgiveness & last but not least – LOVE that I need to have to embrace them all.

Anyway, for our 10th anniversary, I decided I should stop whining & just booked a seafood buffet dinner. Yes we did! Enjoyed the lobsters, oysters & sashimi.🍣🍤🍗 Yums! Happy. No complaint. 🙌🏻😉

Recharge marriage with 1-1 couple’s time

Good time. Good food. Love this staycation! There’s a good spread for breakfast in Straits Cafe (cafe in Hotel Rendezvous). What I love most is the great companion! Couple’s time is hard to come by after having kids. It takes great effort to make it happen. We can’t have such overnight staycation all the time so we often has supper & shorter time out together after the kids sleep. (The kids sleep at 7.30pm). If Mr Eio don’t have OT, we can have more time together. Communication, acts to show love are all important to recharge the marriage.

Thank God for reliable support

Having couple’s time is next to impossible is you don’t have reliable support. Not just any support but reliable ones! 2d1n staycation is already so short, if I still have to keep calling home to check on the kids, I think it’ll be a wasted staycation. I thank God 👏🏻that the kids are well-taken care by my sister. Fun time doing crafts, going Mac Donalds etc. 😌

Continue to appreciate & discover something new about each other.

It’s my 1st time having high tea with Mr Eio. Throughout our 8 years of courtship & 10 years of marriage, we never had a high tea together. Before we head home to embrace our kids, let’s try something new together. Ops! Err… we both agree we’ll not waste money to have high tea together again. More worthwhile for me to have it with my girl friends. Lol. While I’m trying to enjoy every piece of the tarts & cakes… Mr Eio gobbled up all the food & drinks in 3 min! Well, we at least we discover something new about each other. Hahaha. 😄😄 we are done so soon & so that’s all on our staycation.

2nd December 2016

We love to eat. Lol. This is one restaurant (Si Chuan Dou Hua) Mr Eio says he wanna bring me to as i’m always fascinated by how they serve tea. We dropped by this restaurant @ tampines hub while the kids are at Bible day camp. Mr Eio took leave since it’s our 10th Wedding Anniversary & he’s traveling the next day. 

Something I realized over the years when he goes for work trips is that he trusts me so much that he don’t even check what I pack into his luggage!!! I’ve to tell him where I put his stuff. Sometime he’ll just asked some simple questions if I put certain essentials into the luggage. Hmm… I joked that I’ll simply not put his under garments in his luggage one of these days. Lol. 

Nice soup, great food. Fragrance Pu-er tea. 

Pass it on! To the future generations. 

When the kids are back home with us, we view our wedding montage together & share with them what God-intended marriage is about. My girl shared that she wanna dressed like me when she gets married. 😘so sweet. 

Pass on what God has given us to our loved ones & the future generations…

A place Mr & Mrs Eio decided that they must go during their 3d2n Staycation is Antoinette!    

 Why? Mrs Eio wanna try their salted egg croissant! 😝

 
Look at how the salted egg flows out from the croissant. The croissant is crispy & fluffy. Simply Yums! Worth the trip.

Only thing that’s kind of disappointing is the pasta. Too oily. The food items are pricey but if it’s of good standard, it’s ok. Mr Eio says Mrs Eio can cook better pasta. So… 😓

   
 
There’s a great variety of desserts but Mrs Eio think they taste average. 

  
Conclusion: Be there if you wanna try their salted egg croissant & for the nice ambience.

Couple Staycation @ BIG Hotel

Mr & Mrs Eio had a 3d2n couple staycation at BIG Hotel. The room for BIG hotel is really small (smaller than the size of the Eio’s master bedroom..) but it’s fine for them as they probably won’t be staying in the room all the time. 

  
Why Eios choose BIG Hotel?

  • Good location. Near malls & good food!
  • Explore Bugis area
  • Value for $ (whatever essentials Mrs Eio needs for a getaway)
  • There’s hot & cold water dispenser outside their room.
  • Free Wifi
  • TV in room with some free movies
  • Eios drove there. There’s a carpark at the hotel $12 per day (per 24 hours). Some boutique hotels don’t have a carpark.
  • This couple just desperately need a getaway & a place to zzz!!! As simple as that! 

    
Small shower area… Anyway it serves it’s purpose. Even if there’s a bath tub in the bathroom, the Eios will never use it. This is good enough.

The basin is really tiny but there’s really no need for gigantic ones. Lol. 

 
Not much view from their room but at least they can see MBS! 😁  

 
Frankly speaking, there’s really no need to order breakfast from the hotel as there’s many good food, malls, cafes & restaurants nearby (within 5-10 min walk). 

These are some places Eios went for their meals. One of the food that Eios craved for is Bak kut teh! 

1st stop for the Eios: Ah Seng bak Kut teh @ 492 North Bridge Road, Singapore 188737. (10 min walk from hotel). There are many yummy food in that area.   

The couple had an enriching time at the National Design Centre. (Just 5 min walk from the hotel)

 

  
Besides viewing the exhibits, the Eios had a great time chatting & discussing about their future. 

   
One of the afternoons, the Eios drove to Antoinette to try out their salted egg croissant. A must-do for Mrs Eio!

Bugis junction & Bugis+ are just 5-10 min walk away. The Eios tried out the Ramen Champion & New Manlee bak kut teh @ Bugis+.   If you wanna take MRT, Bugis Mrt station is nearby. 
  

The Eios were spoilt for choices. There’s really not enough meals in their staycation for them to try out all the eateries nearby BIG hotel.   😅
Mrs Eio had to go to the hotel’s Gym to burn off the calories accumulated. As you can see, it’s a really small gym. 

 Some requests Eios made when they booked BIG hotel room are:

  1. High floor
  2. Quite room (need to clear their sleep debts) 
  3. Corner room if possible. 

Well… If you are looking for a value-for-money boutique hotel stay around bugis area, this could be a hotel you wanna consider. 🙂

Mr & Mrs Eio’s couple staycation @ Elizabeth Hotel

Me & Mrs Eio had their 3d2n couple staycation @ Elizabeth hotel last year Dec. They hope to meet 3 objectives: catch up on sleep. Enjoy nice food. Rest & relax. Couple of things to note when booking a room in this hotel: Ask for renovated room, high floor & free parking coupons on the day itself.   

Elizabeth hotel is just 5-10 min walk to paragon. There’s so many great food in orchard. Hence Mrs Eio did not have any meals in this restaurant @ the hotel lobby. 

  
The room is newly renovated & there’s no carpet. That’s great! Everything looks clean. 

 
 
For day 1, the Eio couple checked in the hotel at 2pm. The main highlight of that day is to explore Holland Village. The couple had tea @ 2am: dessert bar since Mrs Eio won 2 vouchers on a Facebook contest. See link below: 2am: dessert bar | I am Mrs Eio

The Eio couple watched the movie “Mr unbelievable”. This movie is really unbelievably funny. Lol. Probably the older folks can appreciate it better. Mrs Eio enjoyed the show though. Must be because of the companion she’s with…

 

The Eio couple seldom has the opportunity to shop/ window-shop without Eio kids. It feels good to be out with your soul mate!

Mr Eio bought $10 executive lounge access (24 hour) @ Elizabeth Hotel. The lounge is actually just a pantry. So they can have free nuts, fruits, drinks or cup noodles. The gym is pretty small though. 

Time out without the kids. Great opportunity to have a discussion session on “thanksgiving for 2015 & goal setting for 2016”. 

  

It’s wonderful to be able to enjoy a performance in one of the shopping mall. They played beautifully.

How can Mrs Eio miss such good deal? Elizabeth Hotel is just 5-10min walk to Goodwood park hotel (walking through York Hotel).  For Goodwood park hotel, the discount is only after 8pm daily. For takeaway only.

Cherish & enjoy every moment with your spouse… Check out from Elizabeth Hotel before heading back home to face reality & resume their duty. Lol. Thanks to Mrs Eio’s in-laws & sister for taking care of Eio kids.

Art of Marriage by CRU

June this year, Mr & Mrs Eio had a weekend getaway at Changi Village Hotel. They attended the 2day/ 1night Art of Marriage course by CRU Singapore. 
  

Mr & Mrs Eio had a good time learning & discussing the following topics. It’s a great opportunity where they can spend quality time with each other without any distraction, especially from Eio kids. It’s 2d1n staycation, so it’s very much do-able for the Eios. They are blessed that Mr Eio’s parents & Mrs Eio’s sister are able to take care of Eio kids during their staycation. 

The video sessions and projects cover the following topics:

Session 1: Love Happens (Purpose of Marriage)

Session 2: Love Fades (Drift to Isolation)

Session 3: Love Dances (Roles)

Session 4: Love Interrupted (Communication)

Session 5: Love Sizzles (Romance and Sex)

Session 6: Love Always (Legacy)
    

Besides lesson proper, Mr & Mrs Eio cycled in Changi beach park & stroll along Changi beach. They get to enjoy yummy food at hawker centre too. 
  

They went for the hotel massage service but it’s not so worth it as the staff ain’t very experience. Nevertheless, Mrs Eio is impressed by many tea breaks & delicious hotel meals. 

  
  

If you wanna strengthen your marriage or top up the emotional credit for your spouse, consider a getaway. Married couples with young children can opt for a staycation. 

  
 

5-6 December 2015, Cru will be organizing Art of Marriage again @ Village Hotel Katong.
